Advantages And Disadvantages Of Globalization Essay Example For Students

Points of interest And Disadvantages Of Globalization Essay For a long time dark individuals in the United States have battled for their rightsand their bit of the American dream. Since the world is advancing toward a newglobal time the African American individual, laborer and human has been forgotten about ofthis turn in the century and, the framework is letting them hang their selves. Globalization has made it so anybody with the correct gear and knowledgecan visit or work together anyplace on the planet with only a couple of snaps of a coupleof catches. Globalization is making the hole between the races greater each day,and it appears that no body is easing back down to loan some assistance. Globalizationhas set another standard in transit we live today. Since now that we havereached the mechanical upset, you should have a PC or prepared accessto one to be considered fully informed regarding the world. In the past it wasunheard of not to have more than one TV in your home. Or on the other hand in the event that you didnthave link you more likely than not been poor. Is being poor another sort of wrongdoing, a crimethat says on the off chance that you cannot sign on you are assume to be were you are, at thebottom. In ghettos across America I wager you can rely on your fingers andtoes what number of individuals have a PC in their home, and I am not talking abouta pl ay-station or dream-cast. Is globalization the new politically-sanctioned racial segregation in the UnitedStates? Is this away for our property of the allowed to keep the hang on the poor andlower white collar class minorities? Are dark individuals free in the coming ofglobalization? In Clarence Lusanes book: Race In The Global Era, he talks ofautomation and its impact on dark specialists. Lusane gives us that not all blacksare affected by globalization. For example Michael Jordan and different ballplayers that have these enormous shoe bargains. Presently these games whizzes have theirfaces and name everywhere throughout the item however have no state so in how, where, or whowill make the item. The entertaining thing about it is that some business promotions areto get the attention of downtown dark youth. I recollect when I needed that newMichael Jordan shoe, yet my mom couldn't bear the cost of it. Presently the ads aregeared for the dark young people yet the joblessness pace of bl acks is two timeshigher than whites, working a similar activity. Lusane has cites from Rifkinnotes, Sidney Wilhems, and Holly Sklar that capably show the impact on blackAmericans in globalization. The tale of mechanizations impact on AfricanAmericans is one of the least known at this point most notable scenes in the socialhistory of the twentieth century. The Rifkin notes Wilhems anticipated thatAfrican Americans were being made out of date as laborers by new innovations. While a few specialists have occupations with no future, others have fates with nojobs. Holly Sklar Automation has assumed a significant job in the decrease ofindustrial occupations for blacks. Rifkin considers mechanization a striking scene; it seemsthat computerization resembles an infection or even a plague for some dark specialists. Wilhelm additionally utilizes words like futility, and uprooted Negro, to depict whatis happening to the African American laborer, no future is said by Sklar. Theseare solid words being utilized here to depict the impact on most of aminority. Presently Companys can us machines to do work in production lines and all otherindustrial work that was finished by blacks. So in the event that they have no occupations and they arebecoming futile and uprooted than where and what are the blacks to do, whereis their future? Lusane expounds on an investigation done in Ontario over an eight-yearperiod of time that indicated that the dark detainment grew 204 percent, and thewhite was 23 percent. In addition the whites that carried out a similar medication wrongdoings werereleased at double the pace of blacks. For the center and lower class blacks isthis the new situation and their future, prison? Since the 1970s themanufacturing work in the U.S. has lost about 1.4million positions, from1978-1990. P robably the hardest spots hit were Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburgh, andmy old neighborhood St. Louis. These are for the most part puts that have a horror rate in thecity and obviously dominatingly all dark. I can recall when GM shut downin St. Louis; it was the biggest plant in the city. The plant was more thanthree city squares long and wide. A large number of individuals lost their positions and soonafter the crime percentage bounced up. This was in the mid-1980s. The explanation I rememberis in light of the fact that my grandparents house was broken double cross in under one year. Thatwasnt the main plant that shut down either. My granddad and both of myuncles worked in a packinghouse production line. Lusane additionally discusses how newinvestors appear to begin new fabricates out in the rural regions wherepredominantly just white individuals live. To add to it this is remote and domesticinvestors that are doing this. It isn't so much that they have less education, experience, or st atus. The distinction has nothing to do with jobperformanceBlacks are terminated all the more frequently in light of their skin colorRankdidnt help. Dark ranking directors went out the entryway as regularly as blackclerks. The Mercury News Now all that they let you know in school has nothingto do with nothing on the off chance that you are dark? All the difficult work that a dark individual mightdo to climb in an organization would all be able to be removed in view of their skin color, and from this article quote is avoids even mentioning class. Its simply being dark. A similar report indicated that just one out of each one hundred intrigue wasover-turned. So dark specialists are in a hopeless scenario. Lusane goes furtherabout how the National American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is taking more jobsout of the hands of dark specialists and set these employments over oceans. Dark womenare likewise losing a hottest and raciest fight in globalization. They are paid 56percent not exactly a dark male doing likewise work. Lusane likewise expounds on howin the dark network of Washington D.C. were blacks are 64 percent of thepopulation. However, they own less than10 percent of the business. It is tragic that ablack secondary school graduate is bound to be jobless than a white highschool drop out. A few investigators have contended that African Americans and theworking populace as a rule ought to plan for the 21st century without anyone else in the regions of high innovation and software engineering. Who arethese experts, and where are they to get the re- teaching from? Since mostblack secondary school understudies dont have decent instruction in any case. Youthful blacks need to comprehend who individuals like Dr. Martin Luther King andMalcolm X kicked the bucket. Indeed, even before their time realize why dark slaves were beaten if theycaught perusing or composing. I dont think the downtown dark youth get what and why it was illegal to teach a dark slave. With outeducation of your past you cant under stand your present and cant see yourfuture. Frothier in this entry it puts numbers to what occupations will made ormore accessible in the 21st century. The best ten incorporate clerks, janitors, retail salespersons, servers and servers, enrolled medical attendants, general managersand top officials, security monitors, medical attendants assistants, orderlies, and specialists. Atticus As A Model Parent EssayYou can just get government assistance for a long time in your whole lifetime. Moms arepenalized on the off chance that they have another youngster while on government assistance. Schools and Universitiesare shutting their ways to avoid poor people. Subsidizing has been sliced for jobtraining to poor people, in a contracting work showcase as of now. Examiners gauge that2.6 million individuals, including 1.1 million youngsters will be under the povertyline constantly 2000, only 39 additional days away. The Crime Bill has a threestrikes principle for arrangement for rough wrongdoers treats an elevated level drugoffense like a foul ball and this takes care of you forever. The new passing penaltycan be applied to huge scope tranquilize merchants, dealers, makers orcultivators regardless of whether nobody is slaughtered. This is fundamentally for youthful dark dopedealers. The framework causes it to appear as though neediness is simply the issue of the indiv idual andnot destitution itself. The endeavor to diminish births with only one parent present and to getpeople off government assistance puts a better quality of good on the poor than the peopleand people whom uphold and made this framework. While the rich remain rich and mishap and call the lower classes lethargic, the poor work significantly harder to keep food ontheir tables. Before, when new advances have supplanted laborers in agiven division, new segments have consistently developed to assimilate the dislodged workers. Today every one of the three of the conventional areas of the economy agriculture, manufacturing, and administration are encountering mechanical removal. The onlynew segment rising is the information division. Comprised of a little tip top ofentrepreneurs, researchers, specialists, software engineers, instructors andconsultants. The dark underclass and dislodged Negro are the words that cometo mind when I read this. This is changeless joblessness for blacks. Indeed, even jobsin cheap food and other assistance part occupations are getting more diligently to stop by. TheReagan organization during the 1980s started to make associations a relic of times gone by. This was somewhere else were dark could find a decent paying line of work with benefits. While cash for change programs are being cut the jail financial plan have developed atunbelievable rates. In Michigan drove cuts for administrations for the poor it has a $200million dollar building venture. In Missouri $94 million spent and only $50million in Maryland on new jail ventures. This should be the answerfor the jail being packed. Its like the Doritos business you keepeating we will make more. You blacks prop up to prison we will assemble more. Inall three books we can see that there is a major issue in the manner the systemis set up, aspecially for average workers dark individuals. Some time ago thesystems depended of poor people and lower white collar class to do all the things thatthe high society didnt need to do. Poor people and lower class likewise depended onthe framework with the goal that the lamentable could have something to swear by. Essay on alice and wonderland - 1866 Words

Finding the Child in Us All Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland has entertained not only children but adults for over one hundred years. The tale has become a treasure of philosophers, literary critics, psychoanalysts, and linguists. It also has attracted Carroll’s fellow mathematicians and logicians. There appears to be something in Alice for everyone, and there are almost as many explanations of the work as there are commentators. It may be perhaps Carroll’s fantastical style of writing that entertains the reader, rather than teaching them a lesson as was customary in his time. Heavy literary symbolism is difficult to trace through his works because of the fact he wrote mainly for entertainment. In fact, Carroll’s†¦show more content†¦Alice’s narrow point of view will now begin to raise fundamental questions in her head about who she is. Alice â€Å"has reached the stage of development where the world appears explainable and unambiguous where, paradoxically, curiosity is wedded to the ignorant faith in the sanity of things† (qtd. In Otten 50). Alice’s curiosity will proceed to carry her on a complete rebirth in order to question the inevitable step from childhood to adulthood. It seems to her that she is quite the young adult. This is not such an unfamiliar thought as it is quite usual for a young child to want to behave as an adult. Her journey will sure enough challenge her belief of who she is. This journey begins when she â€Å"found herself falling down a very deep well† (Carroll 5). Question: Discsuss about the Service Marketing Of Albert Toll. Answer: Introduction Albert Toll found Tolls courier Service in Newcastle, Australia in 1888 and he passed the business to his family in 1959. Under the leadership of Peko Wallsend, Tolls developed into a national courier. Highly experienced group of executives leads Tolls courier group thereby, harnessing the significant resources and using it effectively (Tollgroup.com, 2017). Japan Post has undertaken Tolls Courier Company in 2015 as a part of their global expansion (Tollgroup.com, 2017). This report highlights the 7 Ps of marketing mix implemented by Tolls Courier Company along with suggesting recommendations in order to meet the customers expectations. Evaluating the 7 Ps of marketing mix As commented by Yasanallah and Bidram (2012), 7 Ps of marketing mix allows the business organizations to communicate the product or the service to the target customers. Effective implementation of 7 Ps of marketing mix will allow Tolls Courier Company to communicate their service to the Australian population. Product or Service The company offers a wide range of services from shipping bulk cargo to single package from warehouse data to digital data and for a person or for an entire camp. The services provided by Tolls Courier Company include airport service, port services, and passenger services. The airport passenger services include check-in, baggage service, handling delay and disruption. The services provided by the company ensure truly integrated logistics solutions. Additionally, the service provided by the company includes document, parcel, warehouse and consultancy services (Tollgroup.com, 2017). Price The price and rate asked for the services provided by the Tolls Courier Company are based on the weight of the package and the transit used for delivering the parcels. The company charges $20-$25 per domestic shipment. However, the company charges almost $150-$200 up to 10 kg for international shipment. The company charges additional $50 for per kg after 10 kg. Apart from the charges of the services, the company also includes other charges such as duty tax, shipment insurance, Go Green Climate Neutral, Carbon estimate and carbon footprint (Service Rate Guide 2017: Australia, 2017). Place The company provides courier service both at the domestic market and at an international market. The company couriers both residential and commercial packages nationally and internationally. Additionally, the packages can be of various sizes including small, medium and large. The wide network of the courier company has allowed them to provide service even at the remote locations within and outside Australia (Wirtz 2012). People The company supports and encourages equality among the employees, as they consider the employees as one of the valuable assets. The company has a culturally diverse workforce and the employees are highly focused and customer-centric. Moreover, the employees are not afraid of challenges, as they are collaborative and passionate about their work. The company values their employees due to which the employees form long-term association with the company (Tollgroup.com, 2017) Promotion Toll Courier Company has been operating in Australia for many years and has successfully established them nationally and internationally. The promotional strategies used by the company include service at the doorstep, one-stop shopping and surveying the market. Toll Courier Company believes in making the life of the customers easy thereby, delivering parcels at their doorsteps. The use of one-stop shopping will help in attracting customers due to the innovativeness and measuring solutions (Al Muala and Al Qurneh 2012). Physical Evidence The sales staff members, as well as the vehicles and the aircraft, plays a major role from providing service within and outside Australia. Therefore, the company emphasizes less of buildings, landscape, and interiors. The company emphasizes more on direct customer interaction due to which the company recruits front desk executives and provide coded information for the parcels and packages (Jain 2013). Process The process followed and implemented by Toll Courier Company includes procuring products from the clients, procurement, managing order and functions. Additionally, the company also facilitates delivering products to the customers at the doorsteps. The company also uses EDI, EFT, bandwidth, and DSS for planning and execution their delivery within and outside Australia (Chikweche and Fletcher 2012). Recommendation Based on the 7 P's of the marketing mix, there are certain things that need to be improved by Toll Courier Company. As the company provides a wide range of services, they need to mention the information related to the services in details on the website. The customers should be able to access the information of the services at a click (Anitsal, Girard and Anitsal 2012). The company needs to use penetration-pricing strategy for the new customers. Though the company has been providing service in Australia over the years and have created large customer base, using penetration-pricing strategy will help the Toll Courier Company to attract new customers The company needs to provide more than six months of maternity leave for the female employees. This will help the company in maintaining an equal workforce in terms of gender and enable them to continue the career with the company in the coming years. The promotional strategies can be improved by using sports as the medium of promotion. Cast Away id one of Oscar-nominated movie that can be used by the brand for promotion. Moreover, the company can target localities in Australia with new immigrants and distribute brochures. This will help in spreading knowledge about their service among the new population. The company needs to open new outlets in remote Australian locations so that customers are able to access their service. Having few outlets in remote locations will save the trouble for the customers to visit the outlets in the city thereby, saving their valuable time The company needs to enhance their physical evidence by providing sufficient information and of how the entire process works. This will also help in separating the wide range of customers effectively by the technical team. In order to improve the process, Toll Courier Company needs to conduct huge market surveys. This will allow the company to understand how effective and to what extent the services provided by the company have been accepted. Strategies for meeting customers' expectations The two major areas that Toll Courier Company needs improvement, as they are unable to meet the customers expectations are communication with the customers and consider customer feedbacks for improving the service. Toll Courier Company provides a wide range of services both within and outside Australia. With time, the demand and expectations of the customers have changed. Though the company provides effective and efficient service, they fail in maintaining regular communication with the customers (Leonidou et al. 2013). Additionally, the customers do not receive positive after service communication from the company. Therefore, to establish effective communication with the customers, the company needs to implement live chat to enhance their customer service (Arnett and Wittmann 2014). Having the live chat will allow the company to assist the customers whenever they need. For example, if a customer is having difficulty in availing a service, the option of live chat will help the custom er in getting instant help. This will also help the company in increasing the customer base and business for the company. Additionally, having the option of live chat will allow the company to have a better understanding of the current demand for the type of services among the customers. Using the information will provide a competitive advantage for the company. For example, the company can provide offers and discounts to the customers on the services that are preferred by the customers (Morgan, Katsikeas and Vorhies 2012). On the other hand, the company needs to improve in considering the feedbacks received by the customers. The company needs to act promptly on the feedback provided by the customers. This will help the company to improve their services according to the present expectations and demand of the customers. As the company operates at a global scale, the services provided by them might vary across the countries. For example, the international customers might not prefer the way of service provided in Australia. Therefore, considering the feedbacks of the customers across various countries will help the company to improve and enhance their service quality. Considering the customer feedbacks will allow the company to know the areas they are lacking and improve them. Conclusion In this report, it can be concluded that the Toll Courier Company operating in Australia and across various countries. The company is a courier company that provides wide of services such as delivering airport service, port services, and passenger services. The company has implemented the 7 Ps of the marketing mix for communicating the service to the target customers. However, the recommendations have been suggested for each Ps of the marketing mix for enhancing the service provided by the company. It can be seen that the company has failed in living up to the customers expectations. Therefore, in order to improve the customer satisfaction, the company needs to implement live chat service and consider their feedbacks for improving the organizational service. This will allow the company to remain updated with the latest demands and expectations in terms of services for the customers. References Al Muala, A. and Al Qurneh, M., 2012. Art imitates life warhol marilyn and a whiter shade of pale essays

Art imitates life warhol marilyn and a whiter shade of pale essays Art imitates life. Whenever life changes art adapts to the changes and is reflective of its origin in time. We learned this when we discussed Freud, Einstein and Nicci coming onto the scene. As they introduced new theories and new ideas we were introduced to new art forms like Dadaism and Surrealism. In 1967 America was going through some changes. Baby Boomers are turning into hippies and everyone is heading out to San Francisco because its the place to be. College enrollments have doubled since 1960 So its clear this genration wants higher learning. Films like The Graduate express this generations' uneasiness with the idea of growing up and accepting responsibility. Television devotes more broadcast time to the Vietnam war and this generation is divided between those who support the war and those who oppose it. Its like a social revolution in America. 1967 was also a great year for Andy Warhol. He had produced the work that this essay is based on. It was a work called Marilyn Monroe. It was a screenprint on paper thirty-six inches long by thirty-six inches wide. It is very disturbing looking because it doesnt really have any likeness to Marilyn Monroe. Its her face and her features traced but none of the colors are like they should be. The lips, eyebrows, eyelashes and hair are red. Her skin is green and her hair is a weird yellow. He was born Andrew Warhola in 1928. The day he was born hasn't been proved, but it was on this date, the sixth of august, he would celebrate his birthday. However, there is no doubt that he died at 6:31 A.M. on Sunday, February 22nd, 1987, at the New York Hospital after a gallbladder operation. Warhol was a founder and major figure of the pop art movement. A graduate of the Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1949, he moved to New York City and gained success as a commercial artist. He got his first break in August 1949, when Glamour Magazine wanted him to illu...

All About the Rock Called Chert

All About the Rock Called Chert Chert is the name for a widespread type of sedimentary rock that is made of silica (silicon dioxide or SiO2). The most familiar silica mineral is quartz in microscopic or even invisible crystals- that is, microcrystalline or cryptocrystalline quartz. Learn more about how it is made and find out what it is made of. Chert Ingredients Like other sedimentary rocks, chert starts with particles accumulating. In this case, it happened in bodies of water. The particles are the skeletons (called tests) of plankton, microscopic creatures that spend their lives floating in the water column. Plankton secrete their tests using one of two substances that are dissolved in water: calcium carbonate or silica. When the organisms die, their tests sink to the bottom and accumulate in a growing blanket of microscopic sediment called ooze. Ooze is usually a mixture of plankton tests and extremely fine-grained clay minerals. A clay ooze, of course, eventually becomes claystone. An ooze that is primarily calcium carbonate (aragonite or calcite), a calcareous ooze, typically turns into a rock of the limestone group. Chert is derived from a siliceous ooze. The composition of ooze depends on details of geography: ocean currents, the availability of nutrients in the water, world climate, depth in the ocean, and other factors. Siliceous ooze is mostly made of the tests of diatoms (one-celled algae) and radiolarians (one-celled animals or protists). These organisms build their tests of completely uncrystallized (amorphous) silica. Other minor sources of silica skeletons include the particles made by sponges (spicules) and land plants (phytoliths). Siliceous ooze tends to form in cold, deep water because calcareous tests dissolve in those conditions. Chert Formation and Precursors Siliceous ooze turns to chert by going through a slow transformation unlike that of most other rocks. The lithification and diagenesis of chert is an elaborate process.   In some settings, siliceous ooze is pure enough to lithify into a lightweight, minimally processed rock, called diatomite if composed of diatoms, or radiolarite if made of radiolarians. The amorphous silica of a plankton test is not stable outside the living things that make it. It seeks to crystallize, and as ooze is buried to depths greater than 100 meters or so, the silica begins to mobilize with the modest rise in pressure and temperature. There is plenty of pore space and water for this to happen, and plenty of chemical energy being released by crystallization as well as by the breakdown of organic matter in the ooze. The first product of this activity is a hydrated silica (opal) called opal-CT because it resembles cristobalite (C) and tridymite (T) in X-ray studies. In those minerals, silicon and oxygen atoms align with water molecules in a different arrangement than that of quartz. A less-processed version of opal-CT is what makes up with water molecules in a different arrangement than that of quartz. A less-processed version of opal-CT is what makes up common opal. A more processed version of opal-CT is often called opal-C because in X-rays it looks more like cristobalite. The rock composed of lithified opal-CT or opal-C is porcellanite. More diagenesis causes the silica to lose most of its water as it fills pore space in the siliceous sediment. This activity converts the silica into true quartz, in microcrystalline or cryptocrystalline form, also known as the mineral chalcedony. When that happens, chert is formed. Chert Attributes and Signs Chert is as hard as crystalline quartz with a hardness rating of seven  in the Mohs scale   maybe a bit softer, 6.5, if it still has some hydrated silica in it. Beyond simply being hard, chert is a tough rock. It stands above the landscape in outcrops that resist erosion. Oil drillers dread it because its so hard to penetrate. Chert has a curvy conchoidal fracture that is smoother and less splintery than the conchoidal fracture of pure quartz; ancient toolmakers favored it, and high-quality rock was a trade item between tribes. Unlike quartz, chert is never transparent and not always translucent. It has a waxy or resinous luster unlike the glassy luster of quartz.   The colors of chert range from white through red and brown to black, depending on how much clay or organic matter it contains. It often has some sign of its sedimentary origin, such as bedding and other sedimentary structures or microfossils. They may be abundant enough for a chert to get a special name, as in the red radiolarian chert carried to land by plate tectonics from the central ocean floor. Special Cherts Chert is a quite general term for noncrystalline siliceous rocks, and some subtypes have their own names and stories. In mixed calcareous and siliceous sediments, the carbonate and the silica tend to segregate. Chalk beds, the calcareous equivalent of diatomites, may grow lumpy nodules of chert of the type called flint. (Similarly, thick chert beds may grow nodules and pods of limer ock limestone or dolomite rock.) Flint is commonly dark and gray, and more lustrous than typical chert. Agate and Jasper are cherts that form outside the deep-sea setting; they occur where fractures allowed silica-rich solutions to enter and deposit chalcedony. Agate is pure and translucent whereas Jasper is opaque. Both stones commonly have reddish colors from the presence of iron oxide minerals. The peculiar ancient banded iron formations consist of thin layers of interbedded chert and solid hematite. Some important fossil localities are in chert. The Rhynie Cherts in Scotland contain remains of the oldest land ecosystem from nearly 400 million years ago early in the Devonian Period. And the Gunflint Chert, a unit of banded iron formation in western Ontario is famous for its fossil microbes, dating from the Early Proterozoic time some two billion years ago.

Should the U.S. take action to halt North Korea's nuclear weapons Research Paper

Should the U.S. take action to halt North Korea's nuclear weapons program - Research Paper Example 4. The radiation released from attacks against nuclear weapons facilities could kill thousands and be deadly for years to come. 5. The North Korea will become part of the community of nations. Cons: No the U.S should not take action to halt the South Koreas Nuclear Program because†¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¦.. 1. It will leave the smaller countries such as North Korea defenseless since it is the world’s only superpower. 2. Failure in reconciliation between the two Koreas 3. The U.S.A will end up being seen as a weak nation: running away from a challenge. 4. It could worsen the existing humanitarian situation in South Korea. 5. This will trigger vulnerability causing the other nations to develop their own nuclear weapons program. It is thought that if the USA takes action to halt the nuclear weapons program then there will be a reduced probability that those weapons of destruction will be sold to terrorists. This is because the developers will choose to sell them to the highest bidder s who may as well be terrorists.i This will only be increasing the chances of attacks and generating more insecurity. Again since it is clear that the North has the full capability of developing their own destructives, the USA is posing as destruction and if the USA falls out of place then they will remain at will liberty to develop as much mechanism as possible. As the United States takes action to halt this program it has in consideration the security of their citizens. In coming into the process it is trying to enhance and offer its citizens with the protection with which it is charged. If it calls off its efforts then the country’s security will remain at stake and become more vulnerable. The efforts also help to control the amounts of radiations released in the process. The radiations are extremely harmful and can lead to deaths of many.ii Once the USA halts its efforts then the relationship between the two states will forever remain uncertain and the North Korea will lo se its chance of becoming a part of the community of nations. This can only be achieved through negotiations of six parties which have time and again been held. Through this joint party the USA can be able to lead the others in disabling the Process The United States of America is the only form of super power. Its main responsibility is to intervene whenever any state is exposed to threats. Back from the time of cold war to the current war against terrorism intervention has proved to be Americans Foreign Policy. The state has the responsibility of preserving the liberty of others, protecting virtual national interests and ensuring consistent international stability. The prevalence can be backed by the case of America intervening in the NATO-lead-peace keeping mission in Bosnia. If the United States fails to protect the inferior states then it will leave them in a distress and helplessness. Although for sometimes the South Korea perceived the USA to be an obstacle in attaining the re conciliation between the two Koreas, this has however changed with time. The USA is willing to give support to the South in any way, from the transition to democratic politics that is aimed at bringing remarkable changes.iii The States has great influence on the South and this has leaded them to drop the previous assumptions of it being a liability. The North Korea seems to have a very big failure, when it comes to the aspect of policies it uses. It becomes even more mixed up with the

English Poem Analysis Essay Example for Free

English Poem Analysis Essay In this poem, Pablo Neruda is talking about life, and how he feels that it is an insignificant business. He talks about life after death, saying that nobody keeps what they have and says that life is nothing but a borrowing of bones. The best thing he claims to have learnt from life is that one should not have too much of either joy or sadness, but experience both in equal quantities. He feels that his being happy was a punishment, a condemnation that caused him to plunge into the sorrows of others, and to share with them their sorrow. He says that he did not do this for fame or for money, but because he could not live in the shadows, the shadows of other people. He says that we can heal our own wounds by weeping and singing, but in front of us lie thousands of others who are in constant suffering. He feels that his business on earth was to fulfil his spirit, the happiness he felt with the sum of all his actions. It gave him great joy to bathe in the sea under the sun, and in the very foam of the sea, his heart which lay dying was seeped into the sand. The poet makes use of immense imagery in all his works. There is no poem written by Pablo Neruda, which is lacking imagery. It is one of the most common literary devices used by the poet. And this is one such poem where he has used various kinds of imagery to illustrate his thoughts.

The Death of an Idol Essay -- Personal Narrative

When I was young, my mom took me along everywhere. At least once a month, we would travel to Oregon to visit my Aunt Kathy. I would go to the dark and creepy basement to play with my cousins, Carly and Marni. Together, we usually played with little Carebear figurines. I started to grow close to my cousins, especially Carly, even though she was seven years older than me. Her kindness made me feel warm and welcome. Though she got older, it seemed that I never grew. I always looked up to her and her dedication to everything. My mom used to take me to all of Carly's sporting events in high school. I just loved cheering her on. Whenever she was on the basketball court, she always found time to wink at me in the crowd. I even made big posters to take with me when she made it all the way to state for the three-point contest. After high school, Carly decided that she didn't want to stay around anymore. She wanted to go to college away from home. Since she was such a great student, she figured she'd be fine. Carly decided to attend Hofstra University in New York. We promised to be pen pals. Well, that lasted about a year. I was finally growing up, getting busy, and we were losing touch. When we did write, all that I heard of were the boys she dated, and that her A's were dropping to C's. Every once in a while, I would ask my aunt how Carly was doing. The only answer I ever got was "She's fine." A couple of years later, we ... ...at was the day a letter came in the mail for Carly. She had passed her CPA exam. My Uncle Don was the fire chief of the town, so the funeral was full of firemen and police officers. The procession was even led by a fire truck. I look back now and wish that I could have spent more time with Carly. What exactly was so important that the two of us didn't have time for each other? Even though we had some bad times, I'll always remember the good. I think that we all live a life that is already planned. She skipped her time to go, and got another chance. I'm grateful that in that period I got to reunite with her. I hope that I can live her dreams through my life. After all, she is my idol.

Is Mayella a Victim or Criminal Essay

The norms of society are infectiously pervasive. Sometimes it’s these norms, which don’t let the society appreciate the potential it has causing the innocent victims of society to turn into criminals. It is not just the society which plays a role in creating criminals in fact family and home life is quite influential as well. We notice this when Mayella a nineteen-year-old commits the unspeakable crime of accusing a black man of a rape- who is completely innocent. Even though this event may portray Mayella as a criminal and a racist being, but Mayella herself is a victim of society’s prejudice thinking, her family, and, loneliness. In the city of Maycomb the Ewells have always been looked down on and considered white trash. The Ewells are neither accepted by white people due to their social standing nor black people who disassociate themselves with the Ewells because they are white. Mayella, being different from the other Ewells, wants to experience the world outside of the filth she lives in: â€Å"Against the fence, in a line, were six chipped-enamel slop jars holding brilliant red geraniums.† The germaniums suggest that Mayella desires to be better than her surroundings, to aspire to higher things. Another reason as to why she immediately seizes her chance to finally access the privileges of white womanhood after years of living among pigs. She is someone who does not want her identity to be associated with the Ewells. However, at the end of the day society does not see Mayella for who she is but instead a Ewell. Society’s norm leaves Mayella completely lonely and isolated, so her attraction to Tom Robinson is a consequence of this seclusion. Due to her mother’s absence, Mayella being the oldest of the eight children is forced to look after the younger Ewell children, since Bob is out drinking up his relief check. Her relationship with her father is incestuous and abusive, but she doesn’t have anywhere to go or anyone to help her. However when she is approached, pitied, and helped by Tom Robinson, she craves him. But what she really feels is happiness of being with someone in hope of receiving the love she has been deprived of. Her decision to falsely accuse Tom Robinson of rape is certainly a horrendous  act, but she no doubt was forced to do so by her father, Bob, to cover the fact that he beat her himself. The only reason she begins to employ the same low, underhanded tactics of persuasion as her father is for her own safety. Loneliness is the main reason why Mayella throws herself on Tom Robinson. Being a young teen girl she has been through many hardships raising her siblings, enduring her father’s beatings, and having her mother snatched from her at a very young age. Like any girl at this age she dreams that her perfect man will come and take her away from this filth she is living in and give her all the love she has been deprived of however, she doesn’t understand that this is her misconception and in real life nothing like this will happen. But without the right guidance and love she will be keep hurting herself by putting herself through all this exploitation. She seeks this love because she gets from nowhere else, as her mother has passed away, her dad is an alcoholic, and she has no friends. She may be a criminal for accusing Tom Robinson for something he hasn’t done but she herself is also a victim of the society, her family, and loneliness. But it’s these experiences that urged her to become a criminal. She was also a mockingbird who got exposed to the cruelty of the world causing her to kill another mockingbird.
